Cayucos Elementary School District Continues Their Traditional Peace Day Celebration

For Immediate release
April 14,2024

Cayucos, California: Cayucos School, nestled in the heart of San Luis Obispo County, continues their decades long tradition of celebrating Peace Day. Peace Day, for Cayucos School, is typically aligned with Earth Day (Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd to raise awareness and support for environmental protection) and is a school-wide assembly/celebration of friendship, kindness, and environmental awareness. Each grade level has student ambassadors that represent these traits and are celebrated at the schoolwide assembly. Additionally, there will be student performances and staff teaching around the importance of friendship, kindness, and environmental awareness. Annual Peace Day quilts are displayed throughout the school quad and are a celebration of both times past, and our future focus to make the world a better place. Superintendent Gaviola states, “One of my favorite things about Peace Day is seeing parents who participated as children coming back to our lovely school and watching their own children participate in this wonderful school event. The focus of this event is to take time out of our busy schedules and appreciate friendship, environmental awareness and togetherness as a school community.” In 2023, partnered with the Rotary Club of Cayucos, a permanent Peace Pole was added to the campus to remind all students on a daily basis of the power of peace and getting along with each other.

The assembly will take place on April 19 at 10:40 AM. All visitors will need to check in at the main office. For more information please contact: [email protected]
